Peruvian Andean and Amazonian Futurism

Manifesto

 

Qhipa Pacha is a collective that brings together Peruvian—and Peruvian-based—creative writers and artists of speculative fiction (science fiction, utopic and dystopic fiction, futurism, uchronies) whose works depart from and/or explore themes, motifs, characters, and traditions nourished by the cultural patrimony of the diverse indigenous peoples of Peru.

Our collective aims to recover the memory of our original peoples to build possible worlds that imagine and/or project, in a variety of formats and media, Peruvian Andean and Amazonian futurism beyond the influences of speculative fiction of cultures  other than ours.

Qhipa Pacha takes its name from the Quechua word that designates a range of possibilities about the future. As such, it defends both progress and tradition and acknowledges scientific and technological dissemination by means of Peruvian Andean and Amazonian fiction as its main focus of interest.

Soon, the Qhipa Pacha collective will inaugurate its activities with a web portal with information about its members, creative works, publications, and projects in progress, including its first volume of Qhipa Pacha short fiction.

¡Es oficial! El día de hoy, sábado 19 de febrero del 2022, en el marco de la Boskone 59 (Boston, USA), César Santivañez dio lectura al manifiesto del colectivo, dando por inauguradas las actividades de Qhipa Pacha a nivel internacional.  La lectura se dio como parte del panel Climate Change: Global Impacts , llevado a cabo en el Harbor I del Westin Boston Seaport District. En la mesa participaron también Ana Rüsche (Brasil), Robert V.S. Reddick (USA) y Vince Docherty (Reino Unido).  Esta es la sumilla del evento: We know generally that catastrophic anthropogenic climate change is already here. Tanya Tynjälä presenta "Exorealidades" (Pandemonium Editorial, 2022)

Hoy, martes 25 de octubre, la ciencia ficción peruana añadió un nuevo título a su canon central. Se trata de " Exorealidades ", libro de Tanya Tynjälä editado por Pandemonium Editorial y presentado en la librería Escena Libre . La obra incluye la versión original de "La ciudad de los nictálopes", así como los relatos inéditos "81", "La danza de Shiva", "Nuevo mundo", "Soile Grim", "Zatn Maertn" y "Un crudo infierno". El prólogo es de Daniel Salvo . La mesa contó también con la presencia de los autores Sophie Canal y César Santivañez . Con "Exorealidades", Tanya Tynjälä se reafirma como una de las principales voces de la ciencia ficción de este lado del mundo.  ¡Felicitaciones!
